No tools needed. Anything electrical, like the pump or water heater, stays closed.
Is the lid on? Does the float shut the water off when it's full, or does it spill from the overflow pipe? Take a photo of what you find.
All day, or only around midday when the whole house is using water? That detail helps the plumber tell a tired pump from a narrow supply pipe.
Close every water outlet in the house for an hour and note the meter reading before and after. If it moved, water is going somewhere you can't see.
Brown water or flecks of rust when you first open a tap? That points to old iron pipes, or a tank that needs cleaning.
🚰 Burst pipe? Shut the main valve by the meter or where the supply enters the house, switch the pump off at its breaker, then ring the plumber.
A first guess to help you describe it. The plumber settles it once they've seen it.
In July and August the sun beats on the roof tank and any exposed pipes all day. Shading the tank or lagging the pipes takes a lot of the heat out.
December and January nights get chilly and everyone wants a hot shower at once. Usually the element or thermostat is worn, or scale has filled the bottom of the tank.
Galvanised iron pipes in older homes rust inside and narrow over time. The lasting fix is usually new pipework for the worn run, not a clean-out.
The float valve has stuck or broken. A small job, but leave it and you either waste a lot of water or the tank suddenly runs dry.
In bathrooms hardly used over summer (say, while the family is away) the water in the floor trap dries out and the smell comes up. Pour some water in and see.
A leak inside the wall or floor. Ask for detection with instruments before anyone breaks a single tile.
Madinah's weather changes what people call a plumber for. Tell them when the trouble started.
Heat, tanks, and pumps that never get a break.
Water heaters and the rush for hot water.
The main stopcock and the one for each bathroom. The plumber finishes faster without hunting for them.
The pump's noise, the drip, or the patch on the wall. It gives the plumber an idea of price before the visit.
Most tank and exposed-pipe work is up there. Move whatever blocks the stairs or the door.
A dripping mixer, a loose basin, a running cistern: all in one visit rather than three.
Send them in writing before the visit, and keep the answers in the chat.
Many Madinah firms say it does if you go ahead. Check first.
Instrument detection costs a little more but saves you tiles and plaster.
If an old iron run is being replaced, ask what replaces it and how long it should last.
Have them tell you its age and condition, and the price gap between the two.
Get the warranty period written in a WhatsApp message.
Night emergencies cost more. Know the figure before you need it.
Any one of these may have an excuse, but if several turn up, think again.
Breaking on a guess means more tiles and more mess. Ask them to pinpoint it first.
Rust inside comes back. Ask them straight how old the run is.
After any heater job, have them switch it on so you see the water heat and the breaker hold.
A figure in a WhatsApp message protects you both.

Because the roof tank and the pipes on the roof sit in the sun all day. Shading the tank and lagging the pipes helps.
Before the weather turns cool, around November. Once it's cold, demand jumps and appointments slip.
Most likely iron pipes rusted inside, or a tank that needs cleaning. Ask the plumber to check both and tell you what needs replacing.
No. You pick the plumber and speak to them directly; the price and payment are between the two of you. Laqeeni doesn't send anyone or set prices.
