Most moving-day extras come from something nobody mentioned at the start.
How many floors down, how many up, and will the fridge fit in a lift, if there is one? In the Makkah requests we looked at, stairs at both ends pushed the price up more than anything.
If your home sits on a steep rise or a narrow lane near the centre, photograph the street. A big truck may not get close, which means a smaller pickup and two runs.
Plenty of older Makkah flats still have window air conditioners: simpler to take out than splits, but heavy. Count them and say which kind.
Bedroom sets, the kitchen, the living-room cabinet. Say if you want a carpenter to dismantle and refit, because some quotes are transport only.
📍 If the firm is based outside Makkah and your date falls in the weeks before Hajj, ask about the entry permit before paying any deposit.
Nobody's fault, but easy to avoid once you know.
A two-room move in Ash-Sharai with stairs at both ends came to SAR 1,700, while other two-room moves from ground floors were SAR 500–800. Walk-ups are genuinely hard work, so give the exact floor.
Narrow, sloping streets in some older districts leave the truck on the main road while the crew carries everything down the lane. That costs time and money.
During Ramadan, and at Umrah and Hajj peaks, roads near the central area and Al-Aziziyah get very busy. A two-hour job can stretch to five.
Once the pre-Hajj permit period starts (check the official announcement from the authorities before Hajj season), anyone living outside Makkah needs a permit to enter. A Jeddah firm may cancel at the last minute.
Makkah summers pass 40°C and a truck's box gets hotter still. Keep screens and laptops with you in the car.
Lots of people move to new flats in the southern and eastern districts, and handovers slip. Monthly storage helps, but fix its price first.
Each is priced differently.
District to district, most requests.
Jeddah, Taif, Riyadh.
Until the new home is ready.
Coolest and easiest on the crew. Watch for rain and flash-flood alerts, and postpone if the route crosses a valley channel.
If you can finish before Ramadan, do. Traffic around the Haram in the last nights makes getting about hard.
The permit system starts on a date the authorities announce (check the official announcement before Hajj season), and during Hajj itself unauthorised vehicles are kept out of the holy sites. Use a Makkah-based mover if your date falls then.
Possible, but start at dawn or just after and let the crew rest through midday.
Ask for replies by WhatsApp; then nobody argues on the day.
Matters for any date in the pre-Hajj weeks, so they aren't stopped at the entry checkpoint.
Repeat the floor count and lift details, and have them confirm the figure won't change.
Taking bedrooms and kitchens apart and back together is a different job.
And is putting them back up in the new flat your job, or a technician's?
Settle compensation or repair before the day, not after.
Send the location and a photo, especially for a slope or a lane.
Just one? Ask more. More than one? Look elsewhere.
It will change on the day, with the crew standing at your door.
During the permit season that may mean they never arrive.
A small deposit is enough; the rest once things are reassembled.
Dismantling, refitting, wrapping and ACs all need to be in writing.
These are prices of real moving requests in Makkah published on the HomeRun platform between March and October 2026. The same room count can cost very different amounts depending on stairs, lifts and dismantling.

💡 Send the same video and floor count to three firms. If one is far cheaper, ask what their price leaves out.
🧰 Want to save? Take apart the light things yourself and box up clothes and kitchenware; leave the heavy and the glass to the crew.
Source: Makkah moving requests published with their prices on HomeRun (March – October 2026), read on 3 November 2026. There are only a few for each size, so read them as a pointer. We found no dated price list from a Makkah removal firm that we could open. The price is for you and the mover to agree; Laqeeni has no say in it and no cut.
In 2026 requests on HomeRun, most two-room moves were SAR 500–825. With stairs at both ends plus dismantling and refitting, one reached SAR 1,700.
Yes, but from the date the authorities announce (check before Hajj season) anyone coming from outside needs a permit to enter Makkah. Book a crew that lives in the city and avoid roads near the holy sites.
Usually a ground floor or a lift, or no dismantling. Compare moves on the same terms.
No. You find movers through Laqeeni and pay them yourself, directly.
