Switch the AC off at the remote and the breaker before you touch the filter. Leave the outdoor unit to the technician.
Makkah dust clogs a filter faster than you'd think. Rinse it in plain water and let it dry in the shade before refitting.
If its fan has stopped while the AC is on, tell the technician. That's a different fault from low freon.
Frost on the copper pipe by the indoor unit points to low freon or a blocked filter.
If the outdoor unit sits on an open roof, photograph it. The technician may suggest a light shade that still lets air through.
🔌 AC trips the breaker every time? Don't reset it more than once. Leave it off until the technician sees it.
The technician confirms the cause; this helps you follow what they tell you.
At peak heat the outdoor unit is pushed to its limit, and dust on the coil makes it worse. Cleaning the outdoor unit makes a real difference.
Freon doesn't just run down; there's a leak. A good technician finds it before refilling.
The drain line is blocked with dust and grime, or the indoor unit is tilted. Clearing it is quick.
Something's in the outdoor fan, or bolts have worked loose. Don't ignore it; it gets worse.
Older houses have plenty of window units. Cleaning one with removal and refit costs less than a split, but check the opening is sealed afterwards.
After a move, freon may have escaped at the joints or the copper may have kinked. That's why a move needs a technician who can recharge and test.
Each job has its own price and method. Tell the technician exactly what you need and how many units.
Filter, coil, outdoor unit, drain.
Unit runs but won't cool.
Moving to another home or district.
A full clean before the real heat starts, and before technicians get booked up.
Book your clean well before Hajj season (check the official announcement from the authorities for this year's date) if the technician lives in Jeddah or Taif: after that, only permit holders get in, plus people with a Makkah iqama or a holy-sites work permit.
Rinse filters every two weeks, and get the outdoor unit cleaned after a dust storm.
November is a good time to fix the faults you put off, with less demand.
Send them before they set off. A clear reply saves an argument on the doorstep.
Especially if the visit falls in or near Hajj season.
