Who a general fitness coach suits: anyone who wants to feel better overall
A general fitness coach does not specialise in one goal. The work is breathing and stamina, strength, flexibility and balance together. If you are looking for a personal fitness trainer in Riyadh (مدرب لياقة بدنية / مدرب لياقة الرياض) and your goal is "I want to be more active", this is the usual starting point.
Six questions that sort the good from the rest
1. Are you licensed?
Ask for their Saudi REPs licence and check the date. If a trainer cites an international certificate such as NASM or ACE, comparison sources say those exams are NCCA-accredited, but sources describe some other certificates differently, so ask which exam.
2. Woman or man?
Tell the trainer your preference in your first message. It is your call.
3. Where do we train?
Your home, a gym, a park or online. Ask who brings the equipment.
4. What do sessions cover?
General fitness usually mixes cardio, strength and flexibility. Ask how the week is split.
5. How will I know I am improving?
A good coach tracks something simple (how far you walk, how many repetitions you can do) and re-checks it after a few weeks.
6. What does it cost?
Prices vary from one trainer to the next. Ask what the rate starts from, and have the answer in writing.
A typical session
- A short warm-up (the trainer sets the length).
- A cardio or movement block, then a strength block using bodyweight or light equipment.
- Stretching and a slow finish.
Health guidance for adults (WHO and NHS) covers both aerobic activity and strength work across the week. One session with a trainer will not cover all of that alone, so ask what you should do on the other days.
Safety notes
- Heart, blood pressure or diabetes conditions, or a long time without exercise: ask your doctor first.
- Chest pain, dizziness or unusual breathlessness during exercise: stop and speak to a doctor.
- Build up gradually over weeks.
- Injuries are treated by a physiotherapist; the trainer helps after clearance.
I am a complete beginner. Is this for me?
Yes, it is made for beginners. Just do not start heavy in the first session.
How long does a session last?
That depends on the trainer, so agree it rather than assume.
How is this different from a weight loss trainer?
A fitness coach has a wider aim (stamina, strength, flexibility); a weight loss trainer focuses on a weight goal. Many do both.
What to do next
Choose a trainer from the list and send them the questions above on WhatsApp. You pay Laqeeni nothing, and any arrangement is made with the trainer directly.
