Why pick a style first?
Before you contact a مصمم داخلي الرياض or a منسق ديكور الرياض, know what you like. "I want modern" or "I want neo-classic" saves a designer time compared with "something nice". This page is a plain guide, not a rulebook. Designers interpret styles differently.
Modern
- Look: straight lines, smooth surfaces, little ornament.
- Colours and materials: calm tones (grey, white, beige) with one dark or bold accent. Glass, metal, light wood.
- Furniture and curtains: simple pieces; roller or plain wave curtains in a quiet colour.
- Suits: people who like simplicity, a current look and easy cleaning.
Neo-classic (نيو كلاسيك)
- Look: keeps the elegance and detail of classic design, lighter and cleaner.
- Colours and materials: warm light tones (cream, soft gold), velvet, wall frames and mouldings.
- Furniture and curtains: curved sofas with detailing; long wave curtains in rich fabric.
- Suits: people who like a grand feel and big majlis.
Contemporary Najdi (نجدي معاصر)
- Look: inspired by Najdi architecture: strong blocks, geometric patterns, a feeling of clay and warmth, executed in a modern way.
- Colours and materials: earth tones (brown, sand, clay), wood, plaster and triangle motifs.
- Furniture and curtains: low pieces, sometimes floor seating, natural fabrics such as linen.
- Suits: people who want local identity at home.
- A real-world warning: on Mostaql, a Riyadh client paid for buildable "contemporary Najdi" villa drawings and later said they did not match each other, the detail was weak and delivery was late. Ask for executive drawings, not only a pretty picture.
Minimal
- Look: as few pieces as possible; empty space is deliberate.
- Colours and materials: white, beige, grey; plain surfaces.
- Furniture and curtains: a few functional pieces; plain sheer or roller curtains.
- Suits: people who like calm and order and own few things.
Quick comparison
| Style | Feel | Main colours | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Modern | Clean and practical | Grey, white, beige | A practical home |
| Neo-classic | Rich and orderly | Cream, soft gold | A large majlis |
| Contemporary Najdi | Identity and warmth | Earth tones | Those who love heritage |
| Minimal | Calm and open | White, beige | A small flat |
What to tell your designer
- Send three to five pictures you like from different places and say "this is what I like".
- Say what you dislike, too.
- Say who uses the space: children? many guests?
- Ask: "Do you have a finished project in this style?"
No prices are given here, since they depend on the designer and the area. See the per-m² price guide.
Can I mix two styles?
Yes. The designer picks a main style and adds a touch of another, such as a contemporary Najdi majlis with simple curtains.
