First, how designers charge
If you search for a مصمم داخلي الرياض and ask "how much?", the first reply is usually "how many square metres?". There is no single standard, and designers use several pricing models. Knowing which one you are being quoted matters more than the headline number.
- Per m²: the most common in Riyadh quotes.
- Per room: a set price for a bedroom, majlis or living room.
- Hourly: suits a consultation or help choosing furniture.
- Flat fee: one agreed price for the whole brief.
- Percentage of execution cost: the designer takes a share of the build budget.
- Markup on furniture: the designer buys the pieces for you and adds a margin. Ask directly whether there is one.
These six models are the ones Thumbtack's US interior designer cost guide lists, and they match what we see in Saudi quotes.
Indicative Riyadh prices (SAR)
These are prices published by the vendors themselves. They are indicative, not offers, and they differ by more than 10 times. Use them to sense-check a quote.

The same press source says custom furniture adds 20–50% to project cost.
Why the gap is so wide
40 SAR/m² on Haraj versus 300–600 SAR/m² at a studio does not mean someone is cheating. What you receive differs: 3D pictures only, or drawings a contractor can build from? How many revision rounds? Site supervision? The stage-by-stage guide explains this. A very low price deserves more questions, not fewer.
Jeddah and other cities
We found almost no published Jeddah prices. Vendors there seem to quote on WhatsApp only, so do not use the table above for another city.
What to do next
1. Decide: design only, or design and build.
2. Ask for two or three written quotes that state the pricing model.
3. Compare what is included before comparing the price.
4. Read "Before you pay the deposit" before sending any money.
Is VAT included?
Our sources do not say, so ask the designer and have it written in the quote.
