Introduction
If you search for Productive Family sweets in Riyadh (حلويات اسر منتجه الرياض), you want a seller who is officially registered. But what does the certificate actually mean, and is it enough? Here is the summary.
What is it?
The Productive Family Certificate is issued by the Social Development Bank (SDB). Families apply online in minutes through the bank's portal, Tawakkalna or the SDB app. SDB itself calls it "the regulatory license to practice their activities". It is for Saudis only, and about 165,000 families had benefited by May 2024.
What does it cost?
20 SAR a year, issued online by the Social Development Bank, and renewed regularly.
What it does not cover
- Since 1 July 2025, a Balady home-delivery permit applies to businesses that deliver, with health certificates for delivery staff.
- The Ministry of Municipalities calls unlicensed activity "an immediate violation", with fines up to SAR 50,000.
- In January 2026, Jeddah closed an unlicensed sweets production site and seized about 8 tons.
- For sweets and home cooking, the fitting document is usually the Productive Family certificate or a CR, for example.
What our badge means
- It means the seller says she holds the certificate, and we check it where we can.
- It does not mean Laqeeni guarantees taste, hygiene or compliance with every municipal rule.
- Badges are optional. Some excellent bakers cannot get certain documents (for example non-Saudis).
What to ask the seller
- Do you hold a Productive Family certificate? Can I see the number?
- Do you hold any permit or health certificate as well?
- How do you pack and store the sweets? (Productive Family sellers told Arab News that hygiene and packaging are what build trust.)
Next step
Ask for real photos of her work and agree everything in writing. If you are a productive family, list on Laqeeni for free.
