Quick checks before you call anyone

Simple things with an ordinary screwdriver. If the wood is broken or the piece is heavy, leave it to the carpenter.

Hinge screws

A door or wardrobe door hanging crooked? Tighten the hinge screws. That fixes many cases.

Drawer runner

Drawer sticking? Take it out and see if the runner has come out of place.

Any leak?

Swollen cabinet under the sink? Get the leak fixed by a plumber first.

Photos and a count

Photograph the pieces or the problem, count what needs assembling, and photograph the old lock if it's being replaced.

Common problems and what usually causes them

Only the carpenter can say for sure, but this helps you understand what they tell you.

Door scrapes the floor or won't close

Usually loose hinges, or the door has dropped slightly. Tightening the screws fixes many cases.

Wardrobe door hangs crooked

The hinge needs adjusting. Most cupboard hinges have small adjustment screws.

Drawer sticks or won't close

Usually the runner has come out or broken. It can be replaced cheaply.

Swollen kitchen cabinet under the sink

MDF has soaked up water from a leak. Get the plumber to fix the leak first, then replace the panel.

Bed or wardrobe wobbles and creaks

Screws loosened after a move. Tighten them; if the wood has broken around a screw, you need a carpenter.

Broken interior door lock

Usually easy to replace. Take a photo of the old lock so they bring the same size.

Assembly or repair: what's different

The kind of job changes how you're charged.

Furniture assembly

New flat-pack furniture, or taking a room apart and putting it back.

  • Send photos and a count of the pieces and ask for one price for everything.
  • Keep boxes and screws together, and check every part is there.
  • Ask whether fixing to the wall is included.

Repairs

A door, hinge, drawer or interior lock.

  • Send a photo of the problem before they come.
  • Ask for the part's price separately.
  • Save all repairs for one visit.

Make your furniture last longer

Tighten the screws

Every few months, tighten the screws on beds and wardrobes before they get too loose.

Keep it dry

MDF is ruined by water. Wipe up any spills on cabinets quickly.

Don't overfill drawers

Too much weight breaks the runners and the drawer.

Fix tall furniture to the wall

Ask the carpenter to fix tall wardrobes and bookcases to the wall, especially if you have children.

Questions to ask a carpenter

Ask before any work starts. A good carpenter won't mind.

  1. Per piece or per room?

Agree how you'll be charged at the start, and get the price on WhatsApp.

  2. What's the price for everything?

Send photos and a list of every piece before they come, so the price is clear.

  3. Is wall fixing included?

If cupboards or shelves go on the wall, ask whether screws and wall plugs are included.

  4. Do you move things too?

If you're moving home, ask whether they only take apart and assemble, or also move. A removals company is sometimes better value.

  5. What guarantee do I get?

If something leans or creaks after assembly, will they come back and fix it for free?

  6. Can I see photos of past jobs?

Look at real photos of past work and reviews from earlier customers.

Warning signs of a bad job

One sign on its own doesn't prove anything, but take care if you see them.

No price beforehand

If they say "we'll see later" and just start, think twice.

Leaves a tall wardrobe unfixed

If you asked for it to be fixed to the wall and they refuse or ignore it, take care, especially with children.

Furniture wobbles after assembly

And they leave without adjusting it. Ask them to fix it before you pay.

Wants full payment before starting

If you pay everything first, you have nothing left to hold back if the job isn't done properly.

Rough guide

Rough prices (a guide only)

Most carpenters charge per piece or per room. These are rough starting prices; use them to spot a quote that's way off, not as fixed prices.

ServiceRough price
Minimum for an assembly visitFrom SAR 100 – 150
Small piece (shelf, bedside table, table)From SAR 90
Sliding-door wardrobeFrom SAR 110
Large piece (big wardrobe, bed)From SAR 150 – 290

💡 A whole bedroom or a kitchen: send the carpenter photos and a list of the pieces and ask for one price for everything. It's usually cheaper than paying per piece.

📦 Flat-pack furniture: keep the boxes and screws together, and check every part is there before the carpenter arrives.

Rough starting prices from 4 sources in Riyadh (October 2026), mostly price pages of carpenters and assembly companies. We couldn't find reliable prices for a whole bedroom or kitchen. The final price is agreed between you and the carpenter. Laqeeni doesn't set prices or take commission.

Common questions

How long does it take to dismantle and reassemble a bedroom?

Usually two to four hours for a normal bedroom, depending on the number of pieces and the wardrobe.

Do carpenters assemble flat-pack furniture?

Most assembly carpenters do. Ask whether they've done your type of furniture before.

Does Laqeeni take commission?

No. Laqeeni is a directory that connects you with the carpenter directly. You agree and pay between you.
