Before you order aluminium windows in Riyadh

New windows, double glazing against heat and noise, or a window that won't close? Before you agree with anyone, read this: simple checks, the difference between types, and the questions that protect you from thin profiles and copy fittings.

Quick checks before you call anyone

All from inside the home. Don't lean out of high windows or go outside to check.

Seals around the window

Dust getting in? Look at the brush seals around the window: worn or missing?

The track

Sliding window heavy? Vacuum the dust out of the track and try again.

Drainage holes

Check the small water holes at the bottom of the frame aren't blocked.

Where's the heat and noise?

List the rooms that are hot or noisy. It helps you decide where double glazing is worth it.

🚫 Don't lean out of upper-floor windows or climb a ladder outside. Outside work is for the workshop.

Common problems and what usually causes them

Only the workshop can say for sure, but this helps you understand what they tell you.

Dust gets in through the window

Usually the brush seals around the window are worn or missing. They're cheap to replace.

Sliding window is heavy or sticks

The rollers are worn or the track is full of dust. Clean the track; if that doesn't help, replace the rollers.

Water comes in when it rains

The drainage holes in the frame are blocked, or the silicone around the window has cracked.

The room is hot despite the AC

Single glass lets in a lot of heat. Double glazing or insulating film helps.

The lock doesn't close properly

The lock or handle is worn. It's easy to replace; keep the same type.

Whistling in the wind

The frame isn't tight or the seals are missing. Re-sealing and new brushes fix it.

Single glass, double glazing or thermal break: what's different

The difference is in insulation and price.

Single glass

The cheapest.

  • Lets in more heat and noise.
  • Fine where there's no strong sun.
  • Ask about the profile thickness.

Double glazing

Two layers of glass.

  • Cuts heat and noise and saves electricity.
  • Usually worth it for bedrooms and sun-facing sides.
  • Ask about the type of glass.

Thermal break with double glazing

Stronger insulation in the frame itself.

  • The most expensive.
  • Best for very hot sides of the home.
  • Get the guarantee in writing.

Make your windows last

Clean the track

Remove dust from sliding window tracks every few months with a vacuum or brush.

Keep drainage holes open

Make sure the drainage holes at the bottom of the frame are clear before it rains.

Silicone

If the silicone around the window is cracked, have the workshop renew it before water or dust get in.

Gentle cleaning

Strong cleaners damage the aluminium finish. Water and mild soap are enough.

Questions to ask an aluminium workshop

Ask before you agree. A good workshop won't mind.

  1. How thick is the profile?

Ask for the aluminium thickness in mm, and get it written in the quote.

  2. What type of glass?

Single, double or tempered? And who makes it?

  3. What kind of fittings?

Ask about the rollers, locks and handles. They're what fails first.

  4. Will you measure?

Let the workshop measure at your home themselves, so any mistake is theirs.

  5. What guarantee do I get?

How many years on the aluminium, the glass and the fittings?

  6. Can I see older work?

Look at windows they fitted a year or more ago, and ask the owners.

Warning signs

One sign on its own doesn't prove anything, but take care if you see them.

A quote far below the others

Usually a thinner profile or copy fittings. Ask about the thickness and type.

Won't write the thickness in the quote

If they refuse, think twice.

Wants you to measure

Then any measuring mistake is yours. Let them measure.

No written guarantee

On the aluminium, the glass and the fittings.

Rough guide

Rough prices (a guide only)

Most workshops charge per square metre including making and fitting. Use these to spot a quote that's way off, not as fixed prices. The price varies a lot with the profile thickness, the glass and the fittings.

ServiceRough price
Standard aluminium window (single glass)SAR 200 – 400 per m²
Aluminium double-glazed windowSAR 300 – 800 per m²
Thermal break with double glazing (better insulation)SAR 500 – 1,600 per m²

💡 A quote far below the others usually means a thinner profile or copy fittings. Ask about the profile thickness (e.g. 1.2 or 1.8 mm) and the type of fittings.

🌡️ In the Riyadh heat, double glazing cuts heat and noise and saves electricity. It's usually worth it for bedrooms and sun-facing sides.

A rough guide from 6 sources in Saudi Arabia (October 2026), including Riyadh aluminium workshops' ads and manufacturers' price guides. Sources vary a lot, so the ranges are wide. The final price is agreed between you and the workshop. Laqeeni doesn't set prices or take commission.

Common questions

Is double glazing worth it?
